Om Nanotech - Providing Quality Tested Products DDR REM memory

DDR RaM memory or DDR SDRAM (Double-Data-Rate Synchronous DynamicRandom Access Memory) is an extremely fast computer memory. The clock signal isuseful in managing the communication between digital circuits. The DDR RAM memorytransfers two times the data in the same time through its clock signal.

How is this achieved? The clock signal synchronizes communication. When the clocksignal rises or falls, the digital circuits tend to respond back. The main difference betweenthe SDRAM and DDR memory is the manner in which the clock signal is being usedfor exchange of data. The SDRAM memory chips were being used to transfer data byresponding to the rising edge of the signal. During this time the SDRAM transfers 64bits of data at a time to the CPU. The DDR RAM is twice faster than the SDRAM. Itresponds both to the rising and falling edges of the clock signal in order to transfer datawithout changing the clock frequency.

The FSB or the front side bus which is a two-way data channel and the RAM speed worktogether in a computer system.Information from the CPU or the central processing unitis sent by the FSB to the motherboard and other components like the RAM hard drives,BIOS chips and PCI slots. This makes a computer system work like a 266MHz machinewith a FSB of 133MHz that is operating a DDR SDRAM.

The DDR RAM memory can only operate as fast as the motherboard allows it to do
so. Though it is available in a number of speeds, it is a sheer waste of money if such aversion is installed that works faster than the motherboard.

There is one notch on the connecting side of the DDR memory module and there are twonotches that get attached to the PC mother board and hold it in place. The DDR RAMis available in a double sided or single sided chip configuration. There are 184 pins in adesktop DDR whereas a SDRAM has 168 pins.

There are three kinds of DDR RAM. The DDR or DDR1 come with a range of clockspeeds from 100Mhz to 200 Mhz. Superseding this is the DDR2 that has 240-pin withquadrupled speed of 266Mhz. The DDR3 has a 240-pin module that not only uses less ofpower but also has a speed that is eight times faster than SDRAM.
