Memory Modules - Three Exclusive Types

Memory modules are chips found on narrow circuit board. And in the market, three different kinds of modules are present to serve different needs of individuals.

Dynamic random access memory integrated circuits series is defined as memory module. And such modules have got application in workstations,  personal computersand servers. As far as types of modules are concerned, one will find three different types which are found in the market like:

Dual inline package (DIP) chips

Electrical connecting pin in two parallel rows with a rectangular housing is called as DIP. DDR Ram It contains IC chip and the pins are usually found emerging from the sides and bend downwards or completely straight and found emerging from the bottom. Usually, DIP is called as DIPn and here, n stands for the number of pins.

Like, microcircuit package having two rows of seven vertical leads will be DIP14, DDR2 Ram . It is not a simple task to deal easily with DIP chips. The job is little bit time consuming and laborious as the computer system experiences thermal changes most of time and this led the chops to crept out of the sockets. And this phenomenon is actually referred as “chip creep” phenomena. Some ways are there which can help one to avoid the situation of chip creep. One can solder the memory into expansion card or motherboard is the best alternative to avoid chip creep. The connection of the system can become more stable. If the chip found bad, one have to de-solder the chip and new one will have to add the new chip when it is installed.

SIMM

Single inline memory module is another exclusive kind of module present in the market. This module also comes with distinct technical features and other quality nature. Two major types of SIMMS are found for the use. On the special connectors of memory card or on the mother board, small boards get easily plugged into. One should also know this that in case any part of the system fails, it becomes important to replace the entire module, ddr3 ram memory . As far as types of SIMMS are concerned, it is available in 72 pin and 30 pin physical types. The 72 pin has option for 32 bits also. It is also to be noted here that 72-pin version is larger than 30 pin SIMMs.

DIMMs

Last type of module is DIMMs which stands for Dual Inline memory modules. Three main versions of DIMMs are available which have been getting attention of users and are proving helpful as well. Such three versions include 168 pins, 184 pins and 240 pins. Thus, from above discussion it can be said that memory modules are present in three exclusive types to let computer systems function properly.
